OCC GRADUATE RETURNS TO AREA FOR BOOK SIGNING
Erin Keyser Horn will be signing copies of her new book, River’s Edge, at Olney Public Library from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Saturday, May 4th.
River's Edge takes place in Thomson, Illinois, and features the turtle research conducted there every summer by Iowa State University biologists and affiliated students. Their program is called Turtle Camp Research and Education in Ecology (TREE), and it provides high school students—especially urban minorities—a chance to experience field biology.
“TREE has been shaping young biologists for twenty-five years,” Horn said. “But they’re at the point where they could really benefit from financial support. That’s way I decided to give them 10% of the River’s Edge sales through May 5th. I’m also hoping to spread the word about their great program so they can continue turtle research for many years to come.”
For more information or to read the first two chapters of River’s Edge, visit www.ErinKeyserHorn.com. The website also has a series of interviews with some of the actual biologists from ISU.
Horn is a 2002 graduate of Olney Central College. She is the daughter of Larry and Donna Keyser, and the granddaughter of the late Frank and Alice Ochs. She will also be selling copies of her first novel, Eyes of Lightning, a young adult paranormal based on Native American mythology with a setting of Galena, Illinois. Both books will be available to buy for $10 each.
