This is a unique opportunity to do cutting edge work with dedicated support staff including SLP, OT, LCSW, PSY, APRN, BT, ED and 1:1 paraprofessionals, who understand and support developmental language, sensory processing strategies, emotional development, and how they impact children with special needs. We believe that the “behaviors” others see as impacting education for these students are a result of their challenges with comprehension and communication, challenges in processing sensory information from their environment and staying regulated around a broad range of emotions. With our interpretation of their intentions, language-based strategies, emotional and sensory support, and an individualized, multi-sensory, engaging and meaningful curriculum, our kids are limitless!
None. This is a supervised position with training provided via our company. Certification as an RBT (Registered Behavior Technician, www.bacb.com) as well as Floortime Player (www.ICDL.com) will be part of the training and certification process.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Experience in an early learning environment where developmental thinking/approach was utilized.
Knowledge and expertise in child development and early intervention.
Knowledge and experience working with young children and their families.
Interactive style that is playful and engaging.
Your Role on our Team:
Your Role would be to assist a child in their learning process during functional learning activities and therapy sessions. This would take place under the supervision of a licensed clinician. Training would be provided on the job with potential for certification within the field.
One must possess the ability to:
-take direction/coaching from supervising clinician.
-effectively communicate with team members.
-modulate and demonstrate affect appropriate to the situation to facilitate learning.
-support children in ADL’s including toileting, feeding/eating, etc.
-acknowledge and reflect on child’s feelings and behavior in a caring and respectful manner.
Physical Demands of the Job:
Ability to kneel, sit (on a chair or the floor) and stand moving easily and quickly from kneel to stand, sit to stand and stand to walk positions.
Ability to walk up to a mile in distance.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds easily with no assistance from others.
Ability to engage in and support physical activities initiated by children including but not limited to jumping, running, climbing, rolling, sitting/lying on the floor, swinging.
Ability to physically support students on indoor/outdoor therapeutic equipment
Terms of Employment:
Full Time Employee; 32-40 hours per week.
Wages: Compensation is commensurate with experience.
