Salary Range: Starting salary is $40,000, salary commensurate with experience.

ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

Established in 1977, Sexual Assault Counseling and Information Service (SACIS) is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the healing and empowerment of sexual assault survivors (and significant others) through non- judgmental crisis intervention counseling, individual and group counseling, public education, medical and legal advocacy in Coles, Cumberland and Southern Clark Counties in Illinois. The first satellite office, Counseling and Information for Sexual Assault/Abuse (CAISA), was established in Robinson in 1996 in order to serve Crawford, Jasper,
Lawrence, and Richland Counties. In January of 2018, the second CAISA satellite office was opened in Olney, IL, in order to support the expansion of services into Wabash and Edwards Counties, as well.

Duties/Responsibilities

1. Provide individual and family counseling, and support/empowerment groups for victims/survivors of sexual violence and their significant others.

2. Maintain a caseload of counseling clients appropriate to level of employment and program needs.
3. Assess/screen individuals to determine appropriate level of intervention and services.
4. Promptly respond to requests for counseling services and maintain intake and referral records.
5. Participate in regular supervisor one on ones, clinical consultation, as well as program and staff meetings
6. Develop and maintain a network of community members and service providers.
7. Identify and participate in community events, forums, and meetings as necessary to maintain the agency’s awareness of issues impacting residents and the visibility of the agency’s services.
8. Collaborate with staff and interns from the Prevention, Training and Volunteer Services, and Advocacy departments in order enhance the effectiveness of the agency’s services.
9. Maintain accurate records and statistics for intake, counseling, non-client crisis intervention, information/ referral, and other services/activities.
10. Provide counseling services both at agency counseling offices, as well as off-site, or at agencies that have agreed to provide counseling space for the agency.
11. Provide crisis intervention counseling in area schools, when necessary.
12. Participates in providing “on call” services on the 24-hour crisis hotline as a part of a staff rotation.
13. Abides by agency Policies and Procedures and the ICASA Service Standards.
14. May be asked to participate in activities or projects that support organizational priorities.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in a Social Work, Clinical Counseling, School Counseling, Clinical Psychology or School

Psychology required. Clinical licensure or currently in pursuit of licensure strongly preferred (LSW/LCSW orLPC/LCPC).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent counseling and client assessment skills
  • Excellent documentation and organizational skills
  • Pro-active approach to problem solving is a must
  • Comfort with giving and receiving honest, constructive feedback
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently, as well as with a team
  • Previous experience working on women’s issues, addressing sexual violence/gender-based violence, and working with diverse populations including LGBTQ communities strongly preferred
  • Completion of a minimum of 40-hours of sexual assault training by an Illinois Coalition Against Sexual
  • Assault member center within 60 days of hire is required; previous completion of the training is strongly preferred
  • Flexibility to work some evening hours is required
